‘OUT OF THE BLUE’ BIOGRAPHY

Julie McLaughlin

Born and educated in England, the daughter of a ‘Big band’ connoisseur whose passion for all music played a huge part in her early education. She played Clarinet throughout her early years and was the featured vocalist in many musical productions.

Now living and working in Australia for 17 years,

Julie is a versatile, dynamic, professional entertainer and acclaimed vocalist with an ability to transcend many genres of music, from the smoothest delivery of Buble style Jazz & Swing numbers, to Latin, blues & sultry ballads through to a night of up – tempo popular dance music…..

With Duo partner Jim Black, they perform at many Corporate functions and events, and are regular Guest Entertainers aboard International Cruise liners.

They released their 1st CD ‘’A Song for you’ in early 2006 and have recently released their 2^nd in conjunction with the production of a fully scripted and costumed ’Tribute to the songs of Shirley Bassey show’ which is receiving excellent reviews.

Jim Black

Born and educated in New South Wales Australia, Jim played piano from the age of 9 and was performing to live audiences by the time he reached 13 years.

A talented pianist & keyboard player, vocalist and accomplished Band Leader whose musical career has taken him throughout Europe, Asia and extensively into the top venues in Sydney and Brisbane.

Jim has played with the best musicians in the country and accompanied legends John Farnham and Shirley Bassey.

Together with talented vocalist Julie McLaughlin, they formed Duo ‘Out of the Blue’ in early 2004 which has proven to be an amazingly successful partnership.

This Sophisticated Duo, offer a blend of great musical arrangements and clever vocal harmonies, together with a mix of old and new songs, creating an entertainment experience to suit everyone.

They perform songs in four languages and have a repertoire of over 700 songs which includes an eclectic mix of Jazz / Swing ,blues, Latin, to up-tempo dance music.

With the addition of some of Australia's finest musicians, they re-create the “Big Band” experience utilising their library of top quality written musical arrangements.
